The July 4 We Love America Children’s Program put on by the Greater Glenside Patriotic Association is being rescheduled this year for Saturday, July 5 at 10 a.m.  due to threatening weather and wet grounds predicted for tomorrow morning.  This came in this afternoon in an alert by the sponsors, the Greater Glenside Patriotic Association. The location will be the same, Renninger Memorial Park, Keswick Waverly Road in Glenside,

The children’s program features decorated bicycle and stroller contests followed by girls and boys sports events at 10:30 a.m and the serving of refreshments for youngsters at noon.

Wet weather seems to be trying to put a damper on Independence Day festivities this year, but GGPA expects the rest of the show, the 4 p.m. Glenside parade and 9 p.m. fireworks to go on as scheduled.  According to Bill Hall who handles their public relations, GGPA has been in touch with the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management, which advises that the weather is likely to clear by late afternoon with the possibility of some scattered showers.   They’ll be notifying authorities of the final go-ahead by early Friday afternoon, and they don’t expect any further changes.  The original rain date was set for Saturday.

If the weather pattern proceeds as predicted – a big IF – the East Cheltenham Community Council parade marchers might be popping some umbrellas.  The parade takes off at 11:30 a.m.  The rain date is Saturday.  If there’s a postponement, they’ll be posting it on their facebook page by 9:30 a.m.
