Celebrate Winterfest and Small Businesses this Saturday in Glenside

SmallBiz Sat.2015This year’s annual WinterFest in Downtown Glenside is set for this Saturday, Nov. 28 and will coincide with the national celebration of Small Business Saturday.   The event will run from 1 to 5 p.m. on Wesley Plaza off of Easton Road.

As always, Santa will arrive on a shiny, red fire truck at 4 p.m. to confer with little boys and girls about you-know-what.  Local businesses will be offering free refreshments as well as great holiday discounts on creative gift options.

In addition, the event will feature live entertainment from the Cassidy Dancers and the New Life Church carolers. Special event parking will be available free at the PNC Bank lot on 101 South Easton Road in Glenside.

Small Business Saturday is a day set aside to support the small businesses that play a vital role in creating jobs and economic opportunities. They are the backbone of commercial business districts like Glenside.  The idea is that when we shop small, we not only get great products and services we can trust, we support our neighbors and strengthen the local economy.  So come on out to Glenside’s Winterfest this Saturday.  Enjoy the fruits of a vibrant community business district, and make your shopping dollars count – by “shopping small.”

Plus, it doesn’t hurt that Cheltenham Township is waiving parking meter fees all day Saturday.  In fact, those parking meters can be safely ignored after 3 p.m. Fridays through Saturday through the end of the year in all five of the township’s commercial districts, which include Cheltenham Village, East Cheltenham Avenue, Elkins Park East, Elkins Park West and Glenside.

And as an added bonus for local last-minute shoppers, parking will be free after 3 p.m. every day from Sunday, Dec. 20 through Christmas.  Maps of the commercial districts are available here.  The usual parking regulations apply outside of the business districts.

WinterFest is sponsored by the Downtown Glenside Community Partnership and local businesses with support from Cheltenham Township. For more information, call 215-576-5583.
